At Crewkerne BC yesterday our boys beat Devon 86-42 to win the Junior SW Counties League. Manager Don Fowkes writes……..What a fantastic afternoon for the Somerset Juniors. they have been playing some great bowls this season and the icing on the cake was beating Devon yesterday to clinch the League title. I say “beat Devon” but 86-42 is a very convincing victory. When you think that we only scored 43 shots in the corresponding fixture last year it shows how far we have come this year and we now have a very strong squad of youngsters. Over the past 3 seasons there has been an incredible response from the young bowlers of Somerset and James Branfield (Clevedon) has played a major role in helping and encouraging the youngsters to reach their high standard of play. I cant really single anyone out in this game as they were all magnificent and deserved their great win. The only thing I will say is that 15 year old Fraser Ham (Ashcombe Park) is causing a lot of excitement amongst his team mates, the management and the spectators with his performances. He has a great future in the game…..” We send our very best wishes to the girls in the Amy Rose Trophy when they go up to play in Leamnington. More photos in Gallery – Juniors.Read more>>
